The best shark diving experience

UNESCO declared sanctuary, a Natural World Heritage Site, and a Mission Blue hotspot.

Malpelo Island, located in the Pacific Ocean, 507 km west of the port of Buenaventura, is a unique and fascinating destination. The islands are bursting rocky seamounts, extending as much as 350m above sea level. However, the true allure of Malpelo lies beneath the surface of the sea. Malpelo lies at an important meeting point of currents in the Pacific Ocean. This puts it at an incredible crossroads for pelagic and reef-dwelling marine life, with many creatures attracted to the cold water upwellings that bring in vital nutrients-- and larger predators to feed on smaller prey. Divers and marine enthusiasts are drawn to this area due to it's exceptional location and the incredible diversity of marine life it offers. From vibrant coral reefs to schools of colorful fish, there is a wealth of underwater treasures to discover in this hidden paradise.

One of the 5 most beautiful and exotic places in the world to scuba dive.

The mixing of cold southern hemisphere currents with warm equatorial currents results in the waters of Malpelo being incredibly nutrient-rich. This abundance of nutrients supports a diverse range of marine life, making it a haven for various species. There are three levels of life surrounding Malpelo in the vertical walls, corraline reefs, and pelagic envrionments. Open waters are teeming with hundreds of Green Moray Eels, while schools of barracudas, reef sharks, multiple species of turtles, billfish, dolphins, and oceanic manta rays can also be found. However, it is the presence of sharks that truly sets Malpelo apart. This unique destination is a paradise for sharks, particularly silky sharks and hammerhead sharks, which can be found in significant numbers, although a rich variety of shark species can be spotted year-round! Malpelo's rich biodiversity and concentration of sharks make it a truly extraordinary place to scuba dive!

Scuba Diving in the The Hammerhead Triangle

Malpelo island is an integral part of the famed Hammerhead Triangle, along with the Galapagos and Cocos Islands. This mesmerizing triangle is a paradise for divers seeking incredible marine life encounters. Located in the eastern Pacific Ocean, Malpelo island boasts rich biodiversity and is teeming with fascinating marine life. It is renowned for being a haven for hammerhead sharks, which gather in large numbers in the surrounding waters. The island's rocky cliffs and underwater volcanic formations create a unique and stunning backdrop, providing a haven for various species of fish, rays, and turtles. Exploring the depths of Malpelo island is like stepping into a surreal underwater world, filled with vibrant coral reefs, towering caves, and thrilling encounters with some of the ocean's most magnificent creatures. It truly is a must-visit destination for any avid diver or nature lover.

One of the best parts of diving in Malpelo is that only one live aboard boat is allowed at the island at one time, which gives us private access to the array of dive sites surrounding the islands.
